Who we are

This privacy notice is issued by Mavens Building, a London-based building and refurbishment business. Mavens Building is the controller of the personal data described in this notice and is referred to as “we”, “us” or “our”. Questions about this notice or your data: hello@mavensbuilding.co.uk.

This website is not intended for children and we do not knowingly collect data relating to children.

What we collect

When you submit an enquiry through the contact form, we collect your name, practice (if you provide one), email address, project location, a short project description, any drawings you attach, and how you heard about us (optional).

When you browse the site, we collect technical data — IP address, browser type and version, device and operating system — and usage data about how you use the website, via the analytics described in our cookie notice.

If your project proceeds, we also hold the contact, contract and transaction data needed to run the project and meet our legal obligations.

How we use your data

We only use your personal data where the law allows us to:

• To reply to your enquiry and run your project — performance of a contract, or steps taken at your request before entering one.
• To understand how the website is used and improve it — our legitimate interest in running an effective website, using aggregate analytics that do not profile individual visitors.
• To meet legal and regulatory obligations — for example tax and accounting record-keeping.
• To send marketing — only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by emailing us or using the unsubscribe link. We never use pre-ticked boxes.

We do not sell your data, share it with third parties for their marketing, or make automated decisions about you.

Who we share it with

We share data only with service providers who process it on our instructions under contract — our website host, email and document systems, project management software, and accounting software — plus professional advisers and authorities where the law requires. We do not rent or sell personal data.

Security

Access to your data is restricted to the people who need it to deal with your enquiry or project. Our systems use encrypted, access-controlled cloud services, and this website is served over HTTPS. We have procedures for handling any suspected data breach and will notify you and the ICO where legally required.

Retention

We keep enquiry data only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry. If a project proceeds, we keep project records for up to 7 years after completion to meet legal, accounting and warranty obligations, then delete or anonymise them.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to our processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. Email hello@mavensbuilding.co.uk — no fee, and we respond within one month. We may ask you to confirm your identity first.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk), though we’d appreciate the chance to resolve your concern first.

We may update this notice from time to time; the latest version is always on this page. Our website may link to external sites — their privacy practices are their own, and we recommend reading their policies.
